Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System is seeking an Emergency Department Technician for full-time night shifts to assist with patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses. Responsibilities include safe physical care, communicating abnormalities (vital signs, pain) to staff, and performing routine unit procedures as delegated.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED and CPR certification; nursing assistant experience is preferred but not required, with accommodations available

Emergency Department Tech - Full Time - Nights

• The Emergency Room Technician performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists the professional nursing staff by performing any delegated duties, specialized procedures, and assists with care of seriously ill patients.

SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Under the direction of the Licensed Nurse provides physical patient care in a safe manner.
• Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc) to appropriate staff.
• Consistently utilizes basic decision making skills to complete routine tasks.
• Competently performs unit specific procedures.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• CPR certified.
