Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a patient care assistant to join our compassionate, inclusive team. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, you will provide direct patient care and perform clinical duties in line with departmental competency.

Requirements include a high school diploma, BLS certification, CPI upon hire, and strong computer, communication and interpersonal skills. Hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required upon hire.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Proficiency in using computers and software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care with direct supervision of the registered nurse.
• Performs clinical job duties as outlined by departmental competency.
• Supports nursing and hospital administration by adherence to established objectives, policies and procedures.
• Accurately documents patient related tasks.
• Maintains professional knowledge and required certifications through growth and development.
• Adapts behavior to the patient population with respect for privacy and effective communication.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Remains knowledgeable on current laws and standards and ensures compliance.
