Job summary

The Emergency Department (ED) Technician is supervised by Nursing Staff and delivers essential emergency care, performing direct technical tasks and assisting with basic patient needs. This role requires careful data collection and adherence to hospital protocols.

Responsibilities include collecting vital signs and samples, recognizing abnormal findings, coordinating with the medical team, and supporting patient education while ensuring safety and comfort for patients and families.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 year of experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or within 30 days of hire/transfer.
• Corpsman/EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care duties and collect data such as vital signs, weight, pulse oximetry, pain scale, visual acuity, and intake.
• Recognize and report abnormal data promptly and follow physician, provider, and nursing orders.
• Provide direct technical care and assist with mobility, toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs.
• Perform phlebotomy to obtain blood samples and deliver specimens for lab review.
• Transport patients to and from the department and support patient education and family communication.
