Job summary

The Mental Health Association of Rochester is seeking a registered nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in collaboration with the healthcare team, using clinical judgment to diagnose and treat health problems. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, with discharge planning and coordination with other disciplines.

Ideal candidates will have RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS or equivalent, and a graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Provides comprehensive nursing care in collaboration with the healthcare team, utilizing clinical judgment to diagnose and treat human responses to health problems. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, including discharge planning and coordination with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Assessment: Performs multi-system assessments, monitors deviations, and conducts discharge assessments.
• Planning: Develops individualized care plans, coordinates care and discharge, delegates tasks appropriately, and prioritizes patient needs.
• Implementation: Initiates protocol-based measures, documents care accurately, executes procedures correctly, and addresses emergency situations.
• Evaluation: Assesses effectiveness of care, responses to treatment, and participates in quality assurance activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum nine months of RN experience, with at least one year in ED or completion of a related internship.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Licenses and certifications including RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, PALS or equivalent, NIH Stroke Scale, with additional pediatric course within six months.

Additional Skills & Preferences

• Computer skills, previous healthcare experience, and a bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certifications such as CEN or TNCC, and the ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias are advantageous.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and commitment to professional standards are preferred.
