Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) for the Emergency Department. The PCA supports nursing staff by carrying out delegated direct and indirect patient care tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse, performing functions allowed for unlicensed personnel by law.

The role requires flexibility to adapt to unpredictable patient care situations and ongoing Basic Life Support certification; orientation will include any missing certification.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Completion of 12 college credits OR HS diploma/GED with Nursing Assistant training.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from AHA or Red Cross; if not held, certification will be provided during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assists staff with delegated direct and indirect patient care tasks under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Performs skills within scope of unlicensed nursing personnel as allowed by law.
