Job summary

HCA Healthcare, parent to Medical City Plano, is seeking a Paramedic EMS Med Control to oversee EMS coordination between pre-hospital and ED teams. You will manage room assignments, ensure timely trauma activations, and support EMS with data and run sheets for continuous care.

The role emphasizes strong EMS communications, rapid decision-making, and collaboration with the MCP EMS team to improve patient transitions and outcomes. An equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • ACLS and BCLS certifications must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Paramedic certification or EMT-State/ Vocational/ Certificate required
  • Minimum of three years experience in pre-hospital and hospital EMS; EMS radio operations knowledge preferred
  • Technical or Vocational training in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Answer all incoming EMS calls and coordinate with ED Charge Nurse for room assignments.
  • Provide timely reports to outside hospitals for agencies not coming to MCP.
  • Activate trauma, stroke, and STEMI teams per patient reports.
  • Collaborate with security regarding aircraft status and landing zone needs.
  • Relay helipad status to all incoming aircraft and monitor EMSystems status.
  • Be knowledgeable in RAC initiatives for communication during multiple casualty incidents.
  • Assist EMS personnel with equipment location and lounge stock as needed.
  • Track EMS run sheets, statistics and data reconciliation for facility and corporate.
  • Provide follow up to EMS providers on high-acuity patients before shift end.
  • Maintain knowledge base of EMS protocols across all EMS-related departments.
  • Participate in shift huddles with ED staff

Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Emergency Medical Services (EMS)/first responders, other hospitals and the community for transports and referrals to Medical City Plano. Work collaboratively with the MCP EMS team to ensure proper action/resolution for identified provider, referral source and patient issues.

What you will do in this role:
  • Answer all incoming EMS calls and coordinate with ED Charge Nurse the room assignment for each patient to ensure smooth transition of care from EMS to ED
  • Ensure report is called in a timely manner to outside receiving hospitals for agencies not coming to MCP
  • Ensure trauma, stroke, and STEMI team activations are activated per patient reports
  • Collaborate with security regarding the status of incoming aircraft and need for landing zone assistance
  • Relay helipad status to all incoming aircraft.
  • Monitor EMSystems status for MCP and update as needed.
  • Be knowledgeable in use of RAC initiatives for communication/data management during multiple casualty incidents
  • Assist EMS personnel as needed with identified issues (equipment location, lounge stock, etc)
  • Assist with obtaining and tracking EMS run sheets, statistics and reconciliation of data that is required by facility, division, and corporate.
  • Provide follow up to EMS providers before end of each shift on high acuity patients such as trauma, stroke, and STEMI
  • Maintain knowledge base of protocols for all departments under EMS Medical control
  • Participate in shift huddles with ED staff
What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Paramedic, or (EMT-State) Emergency Medical Technician, or Vocational School Graduate, or Certificate
  • Technical or Vocational training
  • Minimum of three years experience with pre-hospital and hospital emergency medical services, strong preference for an individual who is knowledgeable with EMS radio operations.
