Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Emergency Department on a per diem basis. The PA delivers patient care across in-house ED services, pre-admission testing, the operating room, and related areas.

Qualified candidates graduate from an ARC-PA accredited program, hold NCCPA certification, and NYS PA licensure. BLS is required; ACLS/PALS may be preferred. NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a PA program accredited by ARC-PA or its predecessor.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Current New York State license as Registered Physician Assistant.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Introduces/identifies self as a physician assistant.
• Performs initial assessment/history and physical examination.
• Orders and interprets tests and results (lab, radiology, EKG) based on patient need.
• Documents care in the chart per hospital policy and procedure.
• Formulates diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Provides emergency medical care including Code 64 management.
• Triages patients in the ED.
• Assists in surgery under appropriate privileges.
