Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Director of Nursing – Emergency Services for MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center. This role leads the Emergency Department’s clinical, operational, financial, and strategic performance, delivering safe, high-quality care and an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities include cultivating a highly engaged workforce, partnering with physicians and leaders, improving throughput, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
• Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care hospital.
• Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience within Emergency Services.
• Current SC RN license; BLS, ACLS, PALS; NIH Stroke Scale certification.

• Foster teamwork, safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain nursing and frontline staff.
• Provide visible leadership through rounds with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Lead patient experience initiatives and improve throughput and service delivery.
• Oversee budgets, staffing, and resource utilization for the ED.
• Ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in the department.
