Job summary

Lakefield Veterinary Group is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or LVT to join Puget Sound Veterinary Specialty & Emergency in Gig Harbor, WA. This role focuses on Emergency/Critical Care across all shifts, supporting high-acuity patients.

Responsibilities include triage, diagnostics, meds administration, owner education, record-keeping, and patient discharges in a fast-paced specialty setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in an ER setting; LVTs must hold an active Washington license or imminent transfer.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced team.
• Ability to perform CPR/BLS and handle high-stress situations with composure.
• Competent phlebotomy and venipuncture skills.

Responsibilities

• Triage and obtain patient history from owners.
• Perform diagnostic tests and out-patient procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by DVM.
• Provide oversight for multiple ER patients with gold-standard nursing.
• Support and educate pet owners; maintain medical records.
• Discharge patients and review prescriptions with owners.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and proper shift handoffs.

Puget Sound Veterinary Specialty + Emergency - Gig Harbor, Washington

LVT or Experienced Veterinary Assistant – Emergency/Critical Care (all shifts)

Location: Puget Sound Veterinary Specialty and Emergency
Schedule: Day (6:30a-7p), Mid (1p-1a), Overnight(7p-6:30a)
Sign-On Bonus: $5000 for Overnight LVT or VTS

Position Overview and Schedule

We are seeking experienced Veterinary Assistants and Licensed Technicians to join our Emergency and Critical Care Department team. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, collaboration, and professionalism in a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment.

• Triage and obtain patient history from owners
• Perform diagnostic testsandout-patientprocedures
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by DVM
• Provide oversight and treatment for multiple ER patients, ensuring gold-standard patient nursing and husbandry
• Provide support and education to pet owners
• Maintainaccuratemedical records
• Discharge patients and answer client questions
• Fill prescriptions and review with owners
• Maintain cleanliness of the hospital

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ER setting, LVTs must hold an active Washington license or immanent transfer of licensure
• Strong communicationand interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle fast-paced, high-stress situations with composure
• Confidence in life-saving procedures such as CPR/BLS
• Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills
• Competitive hourly ratecommensuratewith clinical experience:
• VTS ECC $40-$48
• LVT $31-$40
• AdvancedorExperienced Veterinary Assistant $24-$32
• Veterinary Assistant $20-28
• $5 per hour differential for all hours worked between 7pm - 7:00am
• $2 per hour differential for Saturday/Sunday 7am-7pm
