Job summary

AnMed in Anderson, SC is seeking a dedicated communication specialist for the Emergency Department to support patient care during night shifts. The role reports to ED nurses and physicians, handling EMS and hospital communications, and coordinating patient call-backs and vital signs as directed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, EMT certificate or nursing-related training, and hospital experience in patient care support.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED equivalency required; EMT Certificate, graduate of an approved paramedic program, registered nurse, or completion of an approved nursing assistant training course.
• Experience: Hospital-based nursing assistant, phlebotomist, paramedic, surgical technician, patient care technician, registered nurse, or other approved training/education.
• Commitment to providing quality patient care in the ED.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality of patient care consistent with the standards and guidelines established by AnMed Emergency Department.
• While working in the Emergency Department, the communication specialist works under the guidance and supervision of the Emergency Department nurse(s) and the chargenurse(s) to provide treatment as ordered by the physician(s)/provider(s) to promote quality and safe care of the patients within the department.
• Receive incoming reports (EMS, physician offices, nursing homes, etc…). If orders are to be given, the call will be transferred to a nurse or a physician.
• Maintains a database of all EMS alerts requested by EMS prior to arrival.
• Assists with patient callbacks as instructed by the charge nurse and/or physician.
• Assists nursing staff by obtaining vital signs of patients as instructed by the charge nurse of the Emergency Department.
