Emergency Department Clinical Paramedic - Emergency Department, Nights, Part-Time

Position Overview

The ED Paramedic functions as a member of the ED clinical team, providing direct patient care within the scope of paramedic practice in collaboration with and under the supervision of ED Medical Director/Nursing leadership. They promote the philosophy, values, standards of performance, and goals of the organization and department. Effective communication with all healthcare team members is essential to maintain patient safety and achieve desired outcomes.

Responsibilities
  1. Patient triage and care direction as part of the ED team, including interventions and assessment of patient condition and response to treatment.
  2. Medication administration within the paramedic scope of practice.
  3. Transport and monitor patients to ICU, radiology, CT, and other diagnostics; provide additional staffing for transfers to higher levels of care when necessary.
  4. Obtain vital signs including orthostatics, EKGs, perform IV insertion, care, and removal, venipuncture, and specimen collection.
  5. Perform FSBS with glucometer, assist with wound care, personal care, and activities of daily living.
  6. Document interventions within the scope of practice in patient records and respond to call lights.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in EMS or a related healthcare field preferred.
  • Current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Paramedic Certification (NRP).
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Current PHTLS, ITLS, or proof of audited ATLS or TNCC certification.
  • PALS and CCP-C certifications preferred.
