Job summary

Prisma Health in Greenville Memorial Hospital is seeking an entry-level Patient Care Tech / Nursing Assistant to support urgent and emergency patient care in collaboration with licensed staff. You will perform routine patient care tasks, assist with data collection, and support transport and safety protocols.

The role emphasizes adherence to department policies, documentation in EMR, and continuous learning in emergency care settings.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nursing assistant, patient care tech, medical assistant, EMT, Paramedic, surgical tech, phlebotomy, military medical corpsman or nursing fundamentals course.
• No experience required; experience as nursing assistant, patient care tech, medical assistant, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Tech, Phlebotomist, Medical Corpsman or nursing student preferred.
• In facilities/units requiring monitor tech responsibilities, attendance of formal arrhythmia training class and passing Prisma Health Arrhythmia exam within 2 attempts; must be completed within 30 days of hire; competencies maintained annually.
• In lieu of school verification, will accept current/former certification or licensure as proof of training; in lieu of education, will accept 1 year related experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care within scope of practice as directed by providers and licensed staff.
• Documents data on medical records and informs RN of activities performed, observations, and patient changes in status.
• Assists with positioning, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
• Performs data collection including vital signs and basic monitoring; reports findings to RN.
• Assists with resuscitation/CPR and emergency airway procedures as needed.
• Maintains equipment, decontaminates supplies, stocks rooms and carts.
• Keeps supervisor informed of unit activities, needs, and problems; adheres to policies and safety standards.
