NC State University is seeking a Clinical Veterinarian Instructor in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) to provide primary clinical service, patient management, and bedside teaching in the veterinary teaching hospital. The role emphasizes weekday swing and weekend shifts to ensure continuous specialty coverage and high-quality emergency care for diverse cases.

Qualifications

• DVM (or equivalent degree) and eligibility for veterinary licensure in NC.
• Preference for minimum three years of emergency case experience and/or a small animal rotating internship.
• Extensive experience in emergency/critical care medicine is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Receiving: manage primary emergency admissions and referrals.
• Patient & ICU Management: oversee hospitalized and ICU patients across services.
• Shift Coverage: cover weekday swing and weekend shifts.
• Inter-Service & Referring Communication: coordinate with referring veterinarians and other departments.
• Clinical Supervision: mentor interns, residents, and veterinary students.
• Clinical Rounds & Instruction: participate in rounds and didactic teaching.
• House Officer & Pre-Clinical Training: engage in training for ECC house officers and rotating interns.
• Student Evaluation: participate in evaluation and grading of students.
• Participate in departmental and hospital admin tasks and cross-department committees.
• Support initiatives to optimize student learning environments.
