Virginia Tech's Department of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full-time emergency veterinarian to join the Emergency & Critical Care Service as a Clinical Instructor. The role includes clinical teaching, primary case responsibility, and a mix of daytime and swing shifts with occasional on-call duties.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree by appointment start date.
• Eligible for Virginia faculty veterinary license by start date.
• Experience in small animal emergency medicine and/or completion of a rotating internship by start date.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal interactions.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Demonstrated interest in education and/or clinical instruction.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the clinical education of veterinary students, interns, and residents.
• Triage and outpatient care with primary case responsibility for ~50% of presented cases.
• Inpatient care through supervision of interns and collaboration with criticalists.
• Management of day and swing shifts with occasional on-call/back-up shifts.
• Opportunity for after-hours surgeries for clinicians with surgical interest (additional compensation).
