Qualifications

THE JOB

As an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you will be part of a front‑line team delivering gold‑standard, emotionally intelligent care for a wide range of cases, from triage to discharge. You will collaborate with doctors and staff to provide nursing care, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical‑care support.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Provide care and support for patients and their owners, keeping everyone together and informed throughout treatment.
  • Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support during critical moments, from triage to discharge.
  • Administer medications and monitoring, including IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions, and advanced therapies.
  • Communicate effectively as a team member, helping to shape care plans and keep care flowing.
  • Perform CPR and other emergency procedures as a trained RECOVER professional.
  • Collect samples, perform diagnostics, and place tubes for analysis.
  • Assist with anesthesia for fragile patients and use the full range of advanced techniques such as central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasound.
WHAT YOU NEED
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA‑accredited program preferred.
  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of the practice; VTS in ECC, internal medicine, or anesthesia/analgesia acceptable.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary technician role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with practice‑management software and electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, lift up to 25 kg alone, and support up to 40 kg with assistance.
  • Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as‑needed basis.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with a diverse team.
