Job summary

The Oregon Department of Emergency Management (OEM) is seeking a Watch Specialist (Criminal Justice/Emergency Communications Specialist) to join our team in Salem, Oregon. This full-time in-office role requires coordinating statewide emergency notifications, incident management, and timely reporting, with rotating compressed shifts and 24/7 readiness.

Qualifications

• Two years of communications experience in a public/private/military setting with public contact.
• Experience in dispatch or coordination functions using radio, phone or teletype.
• Ability to operate in a 24/7 emergency management environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate statewide emergency notifications and incident management with partners.
• Independently interview callers to determine notifications and responses.
• Document incident details and share reports with agencies.
• Create and disseminate reports and verify accuracy per service agreements.
• Assist in planning, training, and exercises for emergency response.
• Monitor statewide alerts and distribute information to jurisdictions.
