Job summary

City of Martinez invites applications for a per diem Police Dispatcher in the Martinez Police Department. This non-sworn, temporary role involves facilitating communications between the public and department personnel using radio, telephone, computer and CAD/RMS systems.

Incumbents must have prior dispatcher experience, be able to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays, and hold a valid Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate (POST) with at least two years using Sun Ridge RIMS

Qualifications

• Prior dispatcher experience in public safety
• Ability to handle emergency situations requiring independent judgment
• Must possess a valid Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Certificate (POST) and at least two years of experience with Sun Ridge RIMS CAD system.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls for service and dispatch department personnel via radio, computer or telephone
• Operate radio, computer, telecommunications, and related equipment
• Enter and query information in local, regional and national databases
• Input data using CAD and RMS software to support dispatching and records for the Martinez Police Department
• Work shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required
