Job summary

Chicago State University seeks a Police Telecommunicator to serve as the initial departmental contact by telephone and in person, receiving, interpreting and transmitting messages via telecommunication equipment.

You will handle emergency and non‑emergency calls, monitor access control, surveillance video and alarm systems, and dispatch appropriate police, fire or EMS resources in coordination with University Police, Facilities and city agencies.

Qualifications

• No felony conviction on record.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: 1 year experience as Police Telecommunicator/Dispatcher or certified 911 operator.

Responsibilities

• Receives and interprets incoming calls; logs, coordinates, disseminates and maintains messages.
• Operate and monitor access control, surveillance video and alarm systems; dispatch responders as needed.
• Create, modify and cancel LEADS files.
• Notify local weather warnings and broadcast severe notices as directed.
• Control access to police station by verifying visitor identifications.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
