Job summary

SGS Milpitas, CA seeks an EMC Laboratory Manager to oversee all EMC testing operations, ensure regulatory and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance, and lead large-scale lab projects such as chamber construction and equipment upgrades.

You will balance RF/electronics expertise with strategic leadership, mentor engineers, interface with executive leadership and automotive OEMs, and drive continuous improvement across testing services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Electronics, Physics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years hands-on EMC testing experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial/supervisory role in an accredited lab.
• Experience with FCC Part 15C&E and FCC Parts 22/24/27 regulatory certifications in automotive contexts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day EMC testing operations and plan, direct, coordinate division activities.
• Direct supervision of both direct and indirect reports, including hiring, scheduling and performance management.
• Ensure testing services meet client requirements per SGS quality system and maintain ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
• Lead CapEx planning and execution for lab upgrades; manage RF measurement equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Collaborate with automotive OEMs and regulators, review test plans, and provide expert engineering feedback.
• Audit readiness and liaison during external audits; enforce laboratory safety protocols.
