Job summary

Garmin Ltd. in the Kansas City area seeks a full-time EMC Engineer 2 to lead certification tests or join a team to complete EMC certifications for complex products.

You will mentor junior EMC Engineers and coordinate with cross-functional teams on test plans, results, and compliance documentation. The role requires hands-on RF knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field with ≥1 year experience.
• GPA 3.0 or higher is a general rule.
• RF knowledge and understanding of electrical circuits.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Able to work with minimal supervision and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead small certification tests or work as part of a team to develop test plans for EMC compliance.
• Understand Garmin products, I/O, system architecture and equipment functionality.
• Develop/write test reports documenting EMC results.
• Mentor EMC Engineers (EMC Engineer 1)
• Apply urgency and focus on priorities and assist in recruiting as required
• Collaborate with EMC Engineers to deliver GPS navigation, BLE and Wi‑Fi platforms
• Create and implement complex test plans for major product development programs
• Test prototypes for RF emissions and document results
• Communicate risks and deliverables to project teams
• Work with Compliance Engineering to determine approaches to compliance problems
