Description

Companion Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow client care plans consistently when providing care/assistance, as required by law for companion caregivers.
• Assist clients with personal hygiene: baths, showers, oral care, shaves, nail care, skin care, grooming functions.
• Assist with toileting/bowel and bladder needs: bedpans, urinals, bedside commode use, incontinent briefs, with attention to perineal/skin care.
• Assist with meals: feeding, monitoring intake, supplements, ice water, measuring intake/output, calorie count, and percentage of meals eaten.
• Provide preventative care including ROM, positioning, repositioning, and safety device application.
• Assist with ambulation and safe transfers using transfer belts and assistive devices like walkers, canes, wheelchairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Embody the C.A.R.E. First! philosophy, centering the resident experience in all aspects of the job.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Geriatric experience preferred.
