Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer Intern (Embedded Systems) for Summer 2027 in the United States. You will work on embedded software across teams, tackle real customer problems, and own features from design to deployment.

The internship offers hands-on projects, mentorship, and opportunities to impact millions of customers. Candidates should be pursuing CS/CE and have experience with C/C++ and general programming languages.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields
• Experience with at least one programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript
• Experience with data structures, basic algorithm development, and/or object-oriented design principles
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools in academic or professional settings
• Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship maximum
• Expected degree conferral date between Oct 2027 – Sep 2029
• Have a minimum of one quarter/semester/trimester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to design, build, and operate innovative products and services
• Break down complex problems into well-defined components
• Contribute to design and development of scalable services with distributed-systems scope
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Contribute to clear and accurate technical documentation
• Use AI-powered tools to enhance development productivity and validate AI-generated code
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and design patterns
• Work in an Agile environment practicing CI/CD and on-call responsibilities
