Job summary

Let’s Prototype | Product Development & Prototyping in Miami seeks an experienced embedded systems architect to own the architecture development process from inception to completion. You will design custom PCBs, develop embedded firmware, and architect IoT connectivity with cloud backends while collaborating across business units.

The role requires strong C/C++, ESP-IDF/FreeRTOS experience, and hands-on work with KiCad/EasyEDA, PlatformIO, and ML capabilities on MCU hardware.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • B.S. in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or closely related field.
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years' of relevant experience
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Design custom, manufacture-ready PCBs (Schematic, Layout, Routing, DRC, DFM, IPC norms) against client requirements using KiCad or EasyEDA Pro.
  • Read and analyze electronic component datasheets.
  • Design and simulate (if required) power electronics circuits for different use cases like battery powered or outlet powered devices.
  • Experience in low power solutions both from hardware component selection and firmware deep sleep strategies.
  • Knowledge of motor controllers (BDC and BLDC) and H-bridge topologies.
  • Develop custom embedded firmware (C/C++, ESP-IDF/FreeRTOS, Arduino/PlatformIO IDE and PlatformIO Remote Development Tools) tailored to product-specific constraints using software development practices like separation of concerns and version control (Git).
  • Knowledge of Embedded Systems Peripherals like UART, SPI and I2C.
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (Inheritance, Interfaces, Dependency Injection…) and Software Architecture Principles (Design Patterns).
  • Design and implement UI interfaces using MCU frameworks like LVGL and Nextion Interfaces.
  • Use tools like oscilloscope, logic analyzers, multimeters and power profilers to debug and test devices.
  • Architect IoT solutions spanning wireless connectivity (BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE) and cloud backends (AWS IoT Core, Lambda, DynamoDB) for use cases like secure OTA updates and device telemetry.
  • Interact with different areas like mobile development and industrial design to ensure cross-functional integration for developed PCBs and firmware.
  • Remote hardware/firmware troubleshooting across distributed lab sites. Ability to troubleshoot devices on remote deployments.
