Job summary

Aeva is seeking an embedded software engineer to design real-time C/C++ applications for its 4D LiDAR platform in Mountain View, CA.

You will work on real-time OS environments (QNX, embedded Linux, FreeRTOS/Zephyr), driver development for SPI/I2C/UART, and collaborate with EE, DSP, and QA to deliver production-grade software.

This full-time role offers hands-on lab work with analysis tools and a path to impact autonomous sensing.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of embedded C/C++ in real-time systems.
• Experience with QNX, embedded Linux, FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Driver development for SPI, I2C, UART.
• Interfacing with custom HW on QNX/Linux.
• Cross-functional collaboration with EE, DSP, and QA.
• Familiarity with ARM and Tensilica architectures.
• Strong OS/RTOS fundamentals; production-grade software.
• Lab debugging with logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.

What you'll do:

• Design and implement real-time applications on application processors & microcontrollers in C/C++
• Participate in the team's software processes, including requirements and design documentation, test-plan generation and execution, peer design and code reviews, process feedback, and improvements
• Debug complicated issues as they arise during product development
• Work with different teams like EE to support new product design process, schematic reviews etc

What you have:

• 3+ years of experience developing C/ C++ code in embedded systems environments
• Familiarity working with QNX, embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, Zephyr etc
• Experience in driver development for common embedded communication protocols such SPI, I2C, UART etc
• Experience developing applications that interact with custom HW on QNX and embedded Linux
• Experience working cross-functionally with other teams such as EE, DSP, System Test, and SW QA
• Experience working on ARM, Tensilca architectures
• Strong understanding of OS and RTOS fundamentals
• Passion to make embedded SW applications resilient, safe, and production-grade
• Ability and interest to operate in lab settings with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes for debugging

Nice-to-haves:

• Familiarity/Experience with Network Programming, and AUTOSAR middleware and general Automotive SW development experience
• Experience building hobby embedded systems projects outside of work

Salary pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, certifications, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.
