Embedded SW Engineer – Automotive ECU Firmware _ 4+ yrs exp _Torrance / Palo Alto, CA

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer to develop firmware for the design and verification of automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs). You’ll contribute to the software stack that supports board bring-up and design validation of PCBAs and ECUs for current and next-gen vehicle platforms—across domains like Autonomy, Infotainment, and Vehicle Controls.

You’ll work on:

• Device drivers and middleware
• Software prototypes for early hardware-software co-designs
• Validation test cases in C and Python
• SDKs and tools that support rapid development

You'll collaborate closely with top engineering talent shaping the future of EV technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy embedded software on RTOS for board bring-up, debugging, and validation
• Write clean, efficient code in C (Python is a plus)
• Debug across software/hardware using tools like JTAG, SWD, Lauterbach
• Interface with hardware teams to troubleshoot protocols like SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet using scopes and analyzers
• Develop BSPs and low-level drivers for various sensors/components
• Drive software validation, debugging, and integration efforts across multiple teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in EE, CS, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in embedded systems programming
• Strong experience in C (Python familiarity preferred)
• Solid debugging expertise in embedded environments
• Knowledge of RTOS fundamentals
• Experience with hardware interfaces and tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams and vendors
• Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Skills
