Job summary

Hanon Systems is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Test Engineer with 3–5 years of experience in firmware and embedded software testing. The ideal candidate will have strong embedded C skills, automotive testing experience, and knowledge of ASPICE practices.

This role will support software verification and validation throughout the complete product development lifecycle, from product specification through release.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 5–7 years of experience in firmware or embedded software testing.
• Strong C programming and embedded debugging skills with automotive microcontrollers.
• Experience with ASPICE processes.
• Experience with CAN/LIN; CAN/LIN test tools such as Vector or Intrepid.
• Experience with UDS protocol and automotive diagnostics.
• Hands-on experience with HIL systems and test automation.
• Ability to work independently in a cross-functional environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, execute, and maintain test cases for unit, integration, HIL, and software qualification testing.
• Apply white-box and black-box testing techniques and perform software verification and validation.
• Debug embedded C code, investigate failures, perform root-cause analysis, and document defects.
• Configure and automate HIL test systems; Typhoon HIL experience is a plus.
• Establish test traceability by linking test cases to software and system requirements.
• Generate test reports and maintain clear test documentation.
• Apply ASPICE practices throughout software testing and development activities.
• Participate in requirements, design, and code reviews and support the full product development lifecycle.
• Verify that software meets customer performance, durability, and engineering requirements.
• Collaborate with firmware, systems, hardware, and other cross-functional teams.

• Experience with software testing, verification and validation, and ASPICE processes.
• Experience with automotive communication protocols including CAN and LIN.
• Experience with CAN/LIN test tools such as Vector or Intrepid hardware.
• Experience with UDS protocol and automotive diagnostics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a cross-functional environment.
• Hands-on experience with HIL systems and test automation; Typhoon HIL is a plus.
• Experience with ASPICE-oriented software design, documentation, maintainability, and code reviews.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of firmware development for communication systems, diagnostics, or bootloaders.
• 3-phase motor or motor-control experience.
