This role spans embedded Linux, edge-to-cloud connectivity, OTA updates, embedded security, and vehicle data acquisition. You will combine deep hands‑on engineering expertise with strong people leadership, guiding a high-performing team that delivers scalable, secure, and reliable in‑vehicle software on fast‑paced, cutting-edge automotive programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and enhancement of edge application software for a connected automotive data logging and IoT platform, including vehicle data acquisition, cloud telemetry, data upload, and OTA application and firmware update workflows.
  • Own software delivery across the full lifecycle, including planning, implementation, integration, validation, release, and sustainment.
  • Drive robust solutions for edge-to-cloud communication, OTA update workflows, embedded security, and data acquisition.
  • Investigate, root‑cause, and resolve complex production issues across distributed and embedded systems.
  • Ensure engineering quality through coding standards, design reviews, test automation, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with systems analysts, platform teams, cloud teams, and other stakeholders to improve reliability, scalability, and operational performance.
Team Leadership, Mentoring, and Supervision
  • Lead, coach, and supervise a team of embedded software engineers, setting clear goals, priorities, and ownership.
  • Build team capability through structured mentoring, technical coaching, and growth plans tailored to individual strengths and development needs.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance feedback, and career development discussions.
  • Establish high standards for execution, accountability, engineering rigor, and collaboration.
  • Monitor team performance through measurable delivery and quality metrics (for example: predictability, defect escape rate, cycle time, and test coverage) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and retention of top engineering talent.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-trust team culture where engineers are empowered, engaged, and aligned with business goals.
  • Coordinate work across global teams and time zones, proactively managing communication, dependencies, and risks.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional C++ software development experience.
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience in embedded software teams.
  • Proven track record of designing, developing, and debugging complex embedded software systems.
  • Experience with automotive in‑vehicle networking protocols such as CAN/CAN‑FD and LIN.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux environments and shell scripting.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
  • Experience applying software coding standards and best practices (for example: MISRA, C++ Core Guidelines).
  • Experience with service‑oriented software design principles.
  • Strong knowledge of debugging, simulation, profiling, and system optimization techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear technical documentation.
  • Experience collaborating effectively across international teams and time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and manage team performance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with modern automotive networking technologies such as DoIP and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Experience with machine‑to‑machine communication over Cellular and Wi‑Fi.
  • Experience in automotive connected applications, telematics, or vehicle data acquisition.
  • Experience in system architecture definition and technical roadmap planning.
  • Experience with embedded security development and tooling, including TARA.
  • Experience with A‑SPICE and ISO 26262 functional safety development, including ASIL‑rated software, is a strong plus.
  • Enthusiasm for and practical experience with AI‑assisted development, agentic coding workflows, and responsible use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
