Role Summary

The Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for designing, coding, and testing locomotive system embedded application software, board support software, OS integration, and FPGA code integration. This role is crucial for the engineering of new product and technology development programs, working closely with design teams on updates and customer project fulfillment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Write, test, and release software
• Resolve software issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide solutions
• Deliver software on time with quality
• Conduct design and code reviews following standards and guidelines
• Break down problems and estimate development time
• Collaborate with systems engineering, product management, simulation, verification, validation, and hardware teams

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• 7+ years of relevant experience in product development, NPI, and project management in the industrial sector
• Knowledge of software architecture, embedded systems, device drivers, Matlab/Simulink
• Experience with embedded and real-time software systems (Linux, QNX, Greenhill, Mentor Nucleus) in C/C++, Python, Shell scripting, Board Support Package
• Hands-on experience testing/debugging embedded software/firmware

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise with software requirements, change management, defect tracking, build and release processes
• Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies
• Experience with inter-process communication and synchronization methods
• Extensive experience with Xilinx, ARM, PPC, Intel processors
• Experience with Serial, Arcnet, Ethernet communication standards
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, DDS, XCP protocols
• Exposure to cyber-secure coding practices
• Ability to analyze problems and estimate development time
• Initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving and delivering results
