Job summary

KLA in Milpitas, CA, seeks an Embedded Software Engineer for the RAPID division to own end-to-end software powering reticle inspection systems, focusing on high-speed data capture pipelines and low-level hardware interfaces.

You'll work across Linux user space and kernel drivers, including PCIe bring-up, DMA and interrupts, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, optics, and algorithms teams to deliver production-grade embedded software.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years embedded software development in industrial/product-focused environment.
• Strong C/C++ skills and fundamentals (OOD/OOP, design patterns, testable design).
• Experience with Linux and/or RTOS, multi-threading, synchronization, and embedded software architecture.
• Hands-on experience developing and debugging Linux kernel drivers, including PCIe/ACPI exposure.

Responsibilities

• Own complex embedded software/firmware for machine control in semiconductor inspection systems.
• Build real-time C/C++ applications for image capture in Linux RTOS environments.
• Design and implement software for high-speed data acquisition, image processing, and hardware interaction.
• Translate system requirements into partitioned user-space and kernel-space designs.
• Develop and debug Linux kernel drivers for custom hardware (PCIe, DMA, interrupts).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated, production-grade software.
• Champion best practices: Agile, CI/CD, code reviews, automated testing.
