Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in Palo Alto is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to join our hardware-focused team on the AMD Versal platform. You will bring up Versal SoC on our custom board, develop and validate PL integration, and optimize IPC between Versal cores and the AMD APU.

The role requires 5+ years in embedded software, hands-on Versal or Zynq bring-up, and deep knowledge of Petalinux/Yocto, Vitis, and Xilinx toolchains. On-site work five days a week with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Hands-on Versal or Zynq UltraScale+ bring-up experience.
• FPGA/PL driver integration: Vitis HLS, IP integration, AXI interconnect.
• IPC implementation: RPMsg, OpenAMP, or shared memory.
• Petalinux/Yocto, Xilinx/AMD SDK toolchain.
• C/C++, Python/Rust; hardware debugging and Xilinx tooling.

Responsibilities

• Bring up AMD Versal SoC on our custom board from EVK reference.
• Develop and validate PL integration: IP instantiation, configuration, AXI interfaces.
• Implement and validate IPC mechanisms between Versal AI Core / RPU and AMD APU (RPMsg, OpenAMP, shared memory).
• Develop BSP and drivers for Versal PS subsystems (RPU and APU partitions).
• Work with AMD/Xilinx on Versal platform tools (Vitis, Petalinux).
• Validate real-time latency and data throughput across the PL–PS–APU boundary.
• Bring up Sample Applications on PL IP Integration, Versal/X86 Interfaces.

Drive AMD Versal SoC bring up for our infotainment dev kit platform, with a focus on programmable logic (PL) integration and inter‑processor communication (IPC) with the AMD APU.

Required Qualifications

• IPC implementation: RPMsg, OpenAMP, or shared‑memory communication
• Petalinux / Yocto, Xilinx/AMD SDK toolchain
• C/C++, Python/Rust; hardware debug and Xilinx debug tooling

Preferred Qualifications

• AMD Versal AI Core or Versal Premium hands‑on experience
• Automotive domain (ADAS or cockpit)
• Safety‑capable RPU lockstep configuration experience
• DMA engine and high‑bandwidth PL–PS data path experience

Salary Range

• $130,000 - 140,000
• The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job‑related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
