Job summary

CNH Industrial Group invites ambitious students to join its Internship Program on site in Sioux Falls, SD. You will design, develop, test, and validate embedded software for agricultural equipment and precision technology.

You will work with software engineers using C/C++, Python, and Git in real-time embedded environments, contribute to verification and troubleshooting, and collaborate across product engineering teams. Housing support is available.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in a technical field.
• Active enrollment in an accredited university program.
• Basic programming in C, C++, Python or similar.
• Familiarity with software fundamentals, debugging, and version control.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development, testing, and validation of embedded software.
• Support software engineers in implementing features in C/C++ for real-time embedded control systems.
• Participate in verification activities: bench, simulation, and field testing; analyze CAN/J1939 networks.
• Collaborate with software, systems, validation, and product engineering teams.
• Assist root cause investigations for customer-reported issues and internal defects.
• Present project results and findings to engineering leadership at internship end.

Intern Program Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, development, testing, and validation of embedded software for agricultural equipment and precision technology products.
• Support software engineers in implementing and debugging features written in C/C++ for real‑time embedded control systems.
• Participate in software verification activities, including bench, simulation, and field testing.Analyze CAN/J1939 network traffic and assist with troubleshooting software and system integration issues.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including software, systems, validation, and product engineering.
• Support root cause investigations for customer‑reported issues and internal defect reports.
• Present project results and technical findings to engineering leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

Experience Required

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university program.
• Basic programming experience in C, C++, Python, or a similar programming language.
• Familiarity with software development fundamentals, debugging techniques, and version control concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or project experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers.
• Experience using embedded debugging tools, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or similar laboratory equipment.
• Familiarity with CAN, J1939, ISOBUS, Ethernet, or other vehicle communication protocols.
• Knowledge of real‑time operating systems (RTOS) concepts.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, or continuous integration tools.
• Interest in agriculture, autonomous systems, precision technology, or vehicle electronics.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD $19.57 - $35.02 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
