Job summary

Iridium Satellite LLC is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer III in McLean, VA to join our Mobile Product Software Engineering Team. You will develop and sustain embedded code for our transceivers and mobile products, ensuring high quality and robust performance across devices and tools.

You will collaborate with hardware, software, and system engineers, contribute to documentation, and help drive a culture of product quality. A hybrid work model with quarterly travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of software experience with 3+ years in embedded software.
• Experience with C programming, ANSI C, data structures and memory management.
• Familiarity with RTOS, multi-tasking, and OSI networking models.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software for microcontrollers with focus on quality, performance and reliability.
• Implement and optimize real-time operating systems, device drivers, and communication protocols.
• Debug and troubleshoot firmware issues ensuring timely resolution.
• Isolate and fix complex low-level problems spanning hardware and software interfaces.
• Integrate, build, and manage embedded software configuration.
• Write and maintain unit, regression, and test suites for mobile product software.
• Create and maintain documentation including software requirements and test plans.
• Review work products from team members and collaborate with cross-discipline engineers.
• Travel to meetings with remote teams and support a hybrid in-office McLean, VA schedule.
