Job summary

Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer II to design, build, and test software that simulates avionics hardware and real-time environments. You will work with the project lead, system engineers, and users to turn requirements into robust C/C++ and Python components.

The role emphasizes embedded real-time development, unit and functional testing, CI/version control, and peer reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; multiple years of related work experience or advanced degrees as indicated.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python with strong OO design knowledge.
• Experience writing simulation software and working with real-time embedded systems.
• Experience with low-level hardware interfaces and debugging embedded software.
• Familiarity with CI and modern source configuration control processes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project leads and engineers to derive software requirements and design for simulation components.
• Implement software components in C/C++ and Python per requirements and design.
• Develop embedded real-time applications using RTOS and verify with unit/functional testing.
• Conduct requirements, design, code, and test reviews throughout the development cycle.
