Job summary

SmallHD, a Videndum plc brand, is seeking an embedded software engineer to develop and maintain Linux-driven software for video monitoring products. You will code primarily in C for embedded environments and coordinate with Electronic and FPGA engineering teams during design, test and integration.

A typical day includes completing programming tasks on Linux-based devices, maintaining existing C applications, aiding hardware bring-up, developing ARM Cortex MCU software, and leading code reviews

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in computer science or computer engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years professional experience.
• Advanced proficiency with C programming.
• Advanced proficiency developing Linux applications.
• Advanced proficiency with common Version Control software (Git).
• Familiarity with GNU Make, Python, Bash and Batch Scripting.
• Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, USB protocols.
• Familiarity with ARM Cortex processor cores.
• Familiarity with AI tools for software development.
• Proficiency with Linear Algebra preferred.
• Experience reading electronic schematics preferred.
• Experience reading and understanding VHDL preferred.
• Experience with UI Design a plus.
• Experience with basic Image Processing a plus.
• Experience with Videography a plus.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining Linux-driven software for SmallHD’s video monitoring products.
• Coordinate with Electronic and FPGA engineering teams during design, test, and integration.
• Complete programming tasks for a Linux-based embedded device.
• Maintain existing C applications.
• Aid in hardware bring-up.
• Develop and maintain ARM-based microcontroller software.
• Lead code reviews with team members.
