Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Software Engineer II/III in Phoenix to contribute to the Anthem Next Generation Avionics platform. You’ll design, develop and verify Core Displays used in modern flight decks, collaborating with engineers and designers to deliver high-performance avionics software.

You should have a Bachelor’s in a technical field and 1.5–5+ years of embedded software experience, with C/C++ and Python proficiency, plus familiarity with OpenGL and Vulkan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Software, or Computer Science).
  • Embedded software development experience ~1.5-2+ years (Engr II), 4-5 years (Advanced/Engr III).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python; familiarity with OpenGL, Vulkan.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architecture and deployment of cutting-edge Avionics Display System solutions.
  • Develop and verify Core Displays on the Anthem Next Generation platform.
  • Create robust software, test cases and participate in full SDLC lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with avionics systems.
  • Own software modules and deliver innovative features for Flight Display Systems.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engr, within our Next‑Generation Avionics (NGA) group, you will join a team responsible for the design, architecture and deployment of cutting‑edge Avionics Display System solutions. As part of the Flight Displays software team, you will have responsibilities across the design, development, software integration and verification of Core Displays to be hosted on the Anthem Next Generation Avionics Platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will work closely with a passionate team of engineers and designers to create and implement forward-thinking software solutions for our cutting‑edge Avionics Flight Display Systems.
  • Support the design, development and implementation of robust, high‑quality software solutions for cutting‑edge Flight Display System platforms, services and/or applications, ensuring high performance, reliability, and functionality
  • Craft and implement high‑level code, ensuring our technology is both robust and user-friendly
  • Create test cases for software based upon use cases derived from the system and software requirements
  • Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, from concept through implementation and verification
  • Enjoy increasing ownership of software modules, deliver innovative features, implement functionalities and contribute to the overall advancement of technology.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software with existing avionics systems.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Software, or Computer Science degree
  • Embedded software development experience ~1.5-2+ years (Engr II), 4-5 years (Advanced/Engr III)
  • Competence in programming, with preference to languages such as C/C++ Python, Open GL, Vulkan etc.
WE VALUE
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles (DO-178C preferred), methodologies and tools.
  • Experience in complex system integration projects
  • Experience with Avionics products is of a PLUS i.e. Displays & Graphics, Flight Mgmt, Flight Planning, Flight Controls, Flight Displays (PFD), Traffic Collision Avoidance (TCAS), Crew Alert Messaging (CAS), Terrain, Radios, etc
  • Object oriented development experience
  • Knowledge of software change management practices
  • Knowledge of software certification requirements and documentation
  • Passion for innovation and continuous learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
