Job summary

Apera in the United States is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and implement safe, robust firmware for the flight control system. This hands-on role involves flight testing and work on sensors, control systems, and communications.

You will develop software in C/C++ and Python on ARM microcontrollers, with Linux realtime development and low-level protocols, contributing to testing, validation, and readiness for next-gen eVTOL platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of professional engineering experience.
• Strong software skills in C, C++, and Python with experience using ARM microcontrollers
• Hands-on experience through employment, student teams, or co-op internships
• Experience with real-time systems, Linux development, and low-level communication protocols including CAN, SPI, I2C, and UART
• Familiarity with control systems, robotics, and/or sensors
• Applicants must be eligible for employment in the United States and willing to work onsite

Responsibilities

• Develop software and firmware for projects spanning sensors, control systems, communications, and navigation
• Improve testing automation, software quality, data collection, analysis, and validation processes
• Debug issues in production, determine root cause, and apply fixes in a timely manner
• Assist in flight testing activities both locally and at remote sites
