Job summary

Delta Electronics Americas seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to build and maintain the Unit Controller firmware stack that coordinates PCS, BMS, and HVAC. You will port the Taiwan codebase to US standards, define secure boot and OTA update procedures, and deploy CI/CD on Azure DevOps for robust testing and validation.

Work involves IEC 61850, Modbus TCP/RTU, CAN, and OPC UA stacks, with Linux/RTOS targets, Yocto, FreeRTOS, and Zephyr. Strong cybersecurity fundamentals are required.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science; 5+ years in embedded software for industrial / energy system.
• Expert in C/C++ on Linux and/or RTOS; strong with multithreading, real-time scheduling, IPC, and deterministic networking.
• Industrial protocol experience: Modbus TCP, IEC 61850 (MMS/GOOSE client), DNP3, OPC UA, CA.
• Modern DevOps: Git, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, Docker, Yocto build systems, hardware-in the-loop test rig.
• Cybersecurity fundamentals: secure boot, TLS/mTLS, signed updates, key management.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware/middleware for the Unit Controller in C/C++ (and Rust where appropriate) on Linux / RTOS targets (Yocto, FreeRTOS, Zephyr).
• Receive and re-platform the existing Taiwan Unit Controller code base; refactor for US PCS/BESS vendors and US standards.
• Implement Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 61850 (client), CAN, and OPC UA stacks; integrate with PCS, BMS, HVAC, and meters.
• Stand up CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps with self-hosted build agents, automated unit tests, static analysis (MISRA, Coverity), and HIL-in-the-loop gates.
• Implement secure boot, signed OTA updates, role-based access, audit logging — aligned to IEC 62443-4-1/-4-2 and NERC CIP where applicable.
