Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an embedded software developer to work on device-side code supporting hardware testing. You will collaborate with local and remote teams and learn the products, software architecture, and implementation.

The role involves development in C, experience with hardware/embedded systems, and time-critical software practices. This position is hybrid, sponsorship is not available, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (not Computer Science or Software Engineering) or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• 6+ months of experience with Hardware or Embedded Software systems (internship and coursework allowed).
• Development experience with C.
• Clear understanding of writing time‑critical software.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• This position does not support sponsorship.

• Proven embedded software development skills with QNX and/or Linux.
• Experience in multi‑threaded programming.
• Development experience with C++ and object‑oriented programming.
• Familiar with object‑oriented design principals and patterns.
• Familiar with SPI, UART, I2C, Ethernet or other networking protocols.
• Development experience with Python or other scripting languages.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with time‑critical projects.

This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $68,300-$114,800.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $85,400-$143,200.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $99,600-$166,600.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $115,000-$192,900.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
