Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for a contract role in the San Jose, CA area. You will develop and optimize software on NVIDIA embedded platforms, including Orin and Thor, focusing on robotics and autonomous mobility applications.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience, strong C/C++ and Python skills, and hands-on work with real-time systems. This onsite position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python, preferably in automotive/robotics/autonomous systems.
• Experience with real-time systems and multi-threaded software development.
• Experience with ARM64 Linux development and embedded deployment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and cross-compile C/C++ and CUDA applications for embedded platforms.
• Build pipelines using TensorRT, cuDNN, CUDA, and NVIDIA DriveWorks.
• Deploy and optimize neural networks on NVIDIA Drive platforms (Orin/Thor).
• Develop hardware-accelerated algorithms for perception, localization, planning, and mapping.
• Profile and optimize GPU performance across driving scenarios.
• Design and maintain CI/CD workflows for ARM64/Linux cross-compiled builds.
• Provide technical leadership with standards and architectural guidance.
• Troubleshoot platform-specific software, performance, and integration issues.
• Collaborate with software, systems, and hardware teams for end-to-end performance.

Akkodis is proud to partner with one of the largest Automotive Manufacturers who is accepting applications for an Embedded Software Engineer. This is a contractual opportunity in the San Jose, CA area

Pay Range: $85/hr. - $95/hr. (W2) - The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

As an Embedded Software Engineer you will help develop, optimize, and deploy software and AI workloads on NVIDIA embedded platforms, including NVIDIA Orin and Thor. This role is ideal for engineers with experience in robotics, autonomous systems, embedded computing, and GPU-accelerated applications who are passionate about building high-performance software for next-generation mobility solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and cross-compile C/C++ and CUDA applications for embedded platforms.
• Build and maintain software pipelines targeting multiple hardware configurations using TensorRT, cuDNN, CUDA, and NVIDIA DriveWorks.
• Deploy and optimize neural networks on NVIDIA Drive platforms, including Orin and Thor.
• Develop hardware-accelerated algorithms supporting perception, localization, planning, and mapping capabilities.
• Profile, analyze, and optimize GPU and accelerator performance across varying operational and driving scenarios.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD workflows for ARM64/Linux cross-compiled builds.
• Provide technical leadership by creating engineering standards, best practices, and architectural guidance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform-specific software, performance, and integration issues through detailed root-cause analysis.
• Partner with software, systems, and hardware teams to ensure end-to-end system performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python, preferably within automotive, robotics, or autonomous systems environments.
• Experience working with real-time systems and multi-threaded software development.
• Hands-on experience in one or more robotics domains, including:
• Perception
• Sensor Fusion
• Planning
• Mapping
• Experience with ARM64 Linux development and embedded system deployment.
• Working knowledge of:
• CUDA
• NVIDIA DriveWorks
• Understanding of modern software architecture, design patterns, and safety-critical development practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Fully onsite
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
