Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Linthicum, MD is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop, enhance, and maintain software for mission systems in C/C++ and Python within an SSE-focused team.

You will work across the software lifecycle in an Agile environment, collaborating with Systems Engineering, Automation and DevSecOps to deliver secure, tested software for flight and mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• U.S Citizenship is required
• Must have a current/active Secret Clearance and be able to obtain SAP prior to start
• Experience working in C/C++, and/or Python
• Experience with Agile SW development, embedded system programming, SW integration and testing
• Experience in System Security Engineering, Program Protection, or Cybersecurity

Responsibilities

• Software developer / software integrator for a scrum team focused on SSE software, Cybersecurity, software assurance, secure coding practices, security-focused engineering trade studies, and other security best practices.
• Conduct system vulnerability scanning, remediation and patch management activities
• Develop and execute unit tests and build verification test plans, and track and report test status
• Conduct reviews of software related products, software designs, and additional technical documents
• Actively participate in technical peer reviews to ensure requirements are met from an end-to-end system perspective
• Work in a fast-paced environment with diverse assignments across all levels
• Participate in full Software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery
• Operate in an embedded development environment with RTOS for flight and mission-critical systems
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in an Agile SW development environment

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with the desire to learn new technologies to join our innovative Software Technologies Organization based out of Linthicum, MD. The new team member will help develop, enhance and maintain software on cutting edge products and systems. Candidates will work on software systems for mission systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle, primarily in C/C++.

What You'll Get To Do:

The Embedded Software Engineer will focus on System Security Engineering (SSE) Software (e.g. Cybersecurity, Program Protection). This includes security software development; software integration and test; DevSecOps; and similar subjects. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning and a culture of automation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Software developer / software integrator for a scrum team focused on SSE software, Cybersecurity, software assurance, secure coding practices, security-focused engineering trade studies, and other security best practices.

• Operate in an embedded technology development environment working with real-time operating systems for use in flight and mission critical systems
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as Systems Engineering, Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test, in an Agile SW development environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• U.S Citizenship is required
• Must have a current/active Secret Clearance. Secret Clearance is required to start. Must be able to maintain this level of clearance for continued employment.
• Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start. Must be able to maintain this level of access for continued employment.
• Experience working in C/C++, and/or Python
• Experience with Agile SW development, embedded system programming, SW integration and testing
• Experience in System Security Engineering, Program Protection, or Cybersecurity

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS in STEM
• Experience in real-time embedded software development knowledge of Radar technologies
• Experience with VxWorks and/or Linux Operating Systems
• Experience with Visual Studio
• Experience with SonarQube and/or other Static Code Analysis tools
• Experience working in a Software Integration Lab with embedded hardware benches
• Experience with the Atlassian tool set, Jenkins, and DevSecOps best practices
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
