Job summary

Lockheed Martin RMS seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to develop and sustain secure embedded processing applications at the hardware/software interface. You will design, implement, and test C++ code for secure processing, work with PCIe/SPI/I2C, and create embedded Linux images.

Onsite in Owego, NY within a classified environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain CI/CD pipelines, and ensure security and quality across programs.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in C++ for embedded or systems-level development.
  • Experience with PCIe, SPI, and I2C hardware interfaces.
  • Experience creating and configuring embedded Linux images.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills at hardware/software interface.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team.
  • DoD security clearance to start at Secret level

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain C++ code for embedded secure processing applications.
  • Develop low-level software interfacing with hardware components and protocols.
  • Work with PCIe, SPI, and I2C hardware interfaces.
  • Create and configure embedded Linux images and kernel bring-up.
  • Support integration, system bring-up, and debugging in lab environments.

  • Ensure software solutions meet security, reliability, performance, and quality standards.

At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), we are at the forefront of developing secure, high-performance embedded systems that support national defense and security. Our team specializes in Secure FPGA and Secure Processing applications, integrating advanced hardware and software technologies to deliver mission-critical solutions that protect those who serve. Our work spans secure embedded processing platforms, hardware/software integration, and real-time system development within classified environments.

The Work

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and sustainment of secure embedded processing applications operating at the hardware/software interface. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining C++ code for embedded secure processing applications
  • Developing low-level software that interfaces directly with hardware components and communication protocols
  • Working with hardware communication protocols such as PCIe, SPI, and I2C
  • Creating, configuring, and maintaining embedded Linux images (including kernel configuration and system bring-up activities)
  • Supporting integration, system bring-up, and debugging in lab environments
  • Maintaining and enhancing CI/CD pipelines to streamline secure software delivery
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop, integrate, test, and deliver prototype and production-ready systems
  • Ensuring software solutions meet stringent security, reliability, performance, and quality standards

U.S. citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD government security clearance at the Secret level to start. This position is full-time onsite in Owego, NY within a classified environment.

  • Knowledge of hardware communication protocols such as PCIe, SPI, and I2C
  • Experience creating and configuring embedded Linux images
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills at the hardware/software interface
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
