Job summary

Emergent Staffing is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer (Battery Management System) to lead development of a high-voltage BMS platform on site in Carlsbad, CA. You will own BMS software architecture, implementation, validation, and long-term strategy alongside hardware and electrical teams.

The role requires 10+ years in embedded software, 3+ years in high-voltage BMS, and strong C/C++ in Linux environments with test equipment experience. Leadership and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of embedded software development experience.
3+ years of high-voltage Battery Management System experience.
Strong C programming skills with working knowledge of C++.
Experience with bare-metal embedded systems.
Deep understanding of distributed high-voltage BMS architectures.
Knowledge of functional safety principles.
Experience in Linux development environments.
Proficiency with Git and source control practices.
Experience using Python.
Track record of delivering production-quality embedded software.
Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and related test equipment.
Strong technical communication skills.

**This is a direct hire for one of our clients working on site out of the Carlsbad, CA offices. Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without visa or sponsorship.**

Our client is seeking a Embedded Software Engineer (Battery Management System) to lead development of a high-voltage BMS platform. This individual will serve as the technical owner for BMS software, driving architecture, implementation, validation, and long-term strategy while partnering with embedded software and electrical engineering teams. This role is critical to maintaining ownership of core vehicle intellectual property and closing a key technical gap within the engineering organization.

Responsibilities
