Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Anaheim, CA. This permanent, on-site role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing embedded software for next‑generation products.

You will work on firmware, real-time OS concepts, and hardware interfaces, driving quality through code reviews and rigorous testing. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in embedded software, strong C++, and hands-on experience with PetaLinux, Recipe, and Bitbake.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of embedded software engineering experience.
• Hands-on development and debugging on embedded targets.
• Strong C++ programming skills are required.
• Experience with OS, PetaLinux, Recipe and Bitbake.
• Experience in real-time, preemptive multitasking systems.
• Familiar with SCM tools and peer reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, code, test, and debug system software for embedded systems.
• Review code and design, providing feedback to peers.
• Analyze and optimize efficiency, stability, and scalability of resources.
• Integrate and validate new product designs.
• Support QA and optimize I/O performance.
• Provide post-production support when needed.

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and passionate Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative engineering team. This is a permanent position where you will be working on cutting-edge technologies to design, develop, and enhance embedded software systems. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, ranging from developing firmware for our next generation of products to optimizing our existing systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of operating systems, PetaLinux, Recipe, Bitbake, and C++.

Responsibilities:

• 1. Design, develop, code, test, and debug system software for our embedded systems.
• 2. Review code and design, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• 3. Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources.
• 4. Integrate and validate new product designs.
• 5. Support software QA and optimize I/O performance.
• 6. Provide post-production support when necessary.
• 7. Develop software for embedded systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
• 8. Design, develop, code, test, and debug system software.
• 9. Interface with hardware design and development.
• 10. Assess third-party and open-source software.

Qualifications:

• 1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2. 5+ years of experience in embedded software engineering.
• 3. Experience in hands‑on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets.
• 4. Solid programming experience in C++ is required.
• 5. Experience with Operating Systems, PetaLinux, Recipe, and Bitbake.
• 6. Proven experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems.
• 7. Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.
• 8. Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
• 9. Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components.
• 10. Strong documentation and writing skills.
