Job summary

Chainguard is seeking a deeply technical security-focused software engineer to embed in our secure software delivery processes. You will design, build, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines with security gates, and drive container and Kubernetes hardening across GCP and AWS environments.

You will lead architecture reviews, threat modeling, and SBOM generation, while influencing baseline security standards, IAM postures, and policy enforcement. Remote-first with strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software or security engineering with hands-on security responsibility.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes production hardening, RBAC, network policies and policy enforcement.
• Hands-on experience with GCP and/or AWS IAM, workload identity, secrets management.
• Experience with software supply chain security tooling (Sigstore, SLSA, SBOM generation).
• Proven track record designing and securing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Cloud Build, Tekton).
• Fluency in container security: image scanning, distroless/base images, runtime security.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines with security gates that catch issues before they reach production.
• Lead security architecture reviews and threat models for Kubernetes-based workloads on GCP and AWS.
• Harden container images, Kubernetes configurations, and cloud IAM postures across the product stack.
• Define and drive adoption of baseline security standards: pod security standards, network policies, secrets management.
• Capture the risk exposure of Chainguard's products and proactively address customer security needs.
