Job summary

RTX BBN Technologies in Rhode Island near Newport seeks a Principal Software Engineer specializing in real-time embedded C development. You will design, develop, and integrate high-performance embedded software on multi-threaded platforms and work with hardware interfaces for DoD systems.

Qualifications include a STEM degree and 8+ years of experience, active DoD Secret clearance on day one, and proficiency with RTOS such as VxWorks, Green Hills, or Linux. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Typically requires a STEM degree and 8+ years of experience.
Active and transferable Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance on day one.
Experience in at least two: Embedded C/C++ software, HPC systems, embedded RT sensors & control apps, software architecture design.
Experience using embedded RTOS (Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks, Linux, etc.)
Experience integrating hardware, firmware and software in complex systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, test, debug and integrate high performance embedded real-time software within heterogeneous systems with FPGA interfaces.
Collaborate with a cross-functional team testing contributions and analyzing performance.
Integrate components into a larger system in preparation for real world testing and deployment.
Teaching, coaching, and mentoring less experienced staff.
Contributing to proposals and design reviews.
Travel required up to 15%.
