Pave Talent is recruiting on behalf of a venture-backed robotics company to hire an embedded Linux engineer who owns the OS layer end to end, including kernel, BSP, networking, build system, and automation. You will work onsite with hardware in Philadelphia.
You will own embedded Linux across multiple hardware platforms (NVIDIA Jetson modules and JetPack SDKs), patch and configure the kernel, manage board support packages, and build reproducible images, while collaborating directly with
Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client for an embedded Linux engineer who owns the operating system layer end to end: kernel, board support package (BSP), networking, build system, and the automation around all of it.
Our client is a venture-backed robotics company of roughly 150 to 250 people building rugged autonomous ground robots for industrial inspection, critical infrastructure, energy, and public safety work. They ship hardware to paying customers today, and engineering is interdisciplinary: software, controls, electrical, and mechanical engineers sit together and debug the same robot.
If your Linux background is mainly cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, or site reliability engineering (SRE), this is not your role. The work here is embedded, on real hardware, on-site.
This is the operating system seat for the entire product, not one of a dozen. You set how every board gets built, flashed, networked, and debugged, and every other engineering team depends on what you define.
This is five days a week on-site in Philadelphia. No remote, no hybrid, and the role genuinely requires it, because the hardware is in the building. Plenty of the work is unglamorous: a board will not boot, an image will not build, an interface drops under load, and you are the person who finds out why. The bar is high and the technical process is real, including live coding, so come ready to work through problems out loud.
Bonus: Annual variable compensation averaging at least 15% of base salary, prorated in your first year
Travel: None required. Domestic and international field opportunities exist for engineers who want them.
