Job summary

NXP is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to architect and port system management firmware for the i.MX portfolio in Austin, TX. The role collaborates with BSP, Linux, U-Boot, ATF, and MCU SDK teams to integrate firmware across new boards and customer systems.

The candidate should have 2+ years in embedded development, strong C skills, and experience with ARM Cortex cores and ARM assembly. This position offers on-site work in Austin with opportunities for impact on next-generation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar disciplines.
• 2+ years of software development experience with embedded systems.
• Proficiency with C programming on embedded systems.
• Proficiency with using Linux shell commands and tools (e.g. Git, make) for embedded software development.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A architecture.
• Knowledge of ARM assembly language.

Responsibilities

• Architect system management features across the i.MX portfolio.
• Port system management firmware to new i.MX SoCs and boards.
• Develop tests to improve firmware coverage and assess firmware performance metrics.
• Develop documentation and support collateral for system management firmware.
• Collaborate with BSP, Linux, U-Boot, ATF, and Linux teams to integrate and optimize system management functions.
• Port, debug, and optimize system management firmware on customer systems.
