Job summary

Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is seeking Embedded Hardware Engineering Co-Ops to assist with hardware design and production support at our Verona, WI facility for Spring/Summer 2027 and Summer/Fall 2027 terms. Students will rotate to one engineering team based on needs and interests and may focus on board-level design, HDL development, or FPGA projects.

Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in EE, CE, or CS, and bring familiarity with embedded systems, Python, PCB design,

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, Python programming, PCB design, digital logic, transmission line theory, numerical analysis, and electrical schematics is beneficial.
  • Hands-on approach to engineering with a strong desire to learn new skills in design, testing, and production support environments.

Responsibilities

  • Schematic capture, component investigations, DC/DC power design.
  • New-product bring-up support, power supply verification.
  • Design, build, simulate and maintain FPGA projects.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electronic assemblies and single-board computers at the component level.
  • Perform simulations of high-speed interfaces such as memory and PCIe; interpret S-Parameter charts and optimize via impedance using a 3D Full-Wave Solver.

Description

Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is seeking Embedded Hardware Engineering Co-Op’s to assist with various aspects of hardware design and production support. Gain hands-on experience working with advanced technologies from Intel, AMD, and other embedded suppliers. Depending on your assigned team, responsibilities may include one or more of the following: board-level design, HDL development, signal integrity simulations and design for high-speed signals, schematic capture, power supply design and testing, troubleshooting, debug, engineering bring-up, and/or manufacturing support.

All Co-Oppositionsarefull-time and in-person at our Verona, WI facility for the Spring/Summer 2027 Co-Op term (January–August 2027) or a Summer/Fall 2027 Co-Op term (May – December 2027). This opportunity typically requires students to take a semester away from school to accommodate the full-time schedule.

X-ES hires multiple co-ops each term, with each student being assigned to one engineering teambased on business needs, experience, and interests.Candidates will beconsidered for all positions.Candidates arewelcometo includea desired focus areain their cover letter or resumeif one is known.

Required Qualifications

  • Self-motivatedwitha strong senseof urgencyand capable ofworking with small, dedicated engineering teams.
  • Attention to detail and ability to communicate with software and embedded design engineers
  • Interested in developingleadershipskills and practicing these in a professional environment
