Job summary

Foundation Robotics Lab in San Francisco is seeking an Embedded Engineer, Hardware for the Autonomous Vehicle Team. You will lead bring-up of embedded compute platforms, develop low-level drivers, and integrate sensor SDKs.

Ideal candidates have 4-5 years in automotive/robotics, strong C/C++ and Python, Linux expertise (Yocto/Ubuntu Core), and experience with CAN/DDS/ROS2. Join a mission-driven team building advanced autonomous systems.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of embedded systems development in vehicles or robotics.
• Strong C/C++ and Python skills; Linux experience (Yocto, Ubuntu Core).
• Experience integrating third-party SDKs for sensors or accelerators.

Responsibilities

• Lead bring-up of embedded compute platforms (MCUs, VCU, SBCs running Linux).
• Develop low‑level drivers and middleware to interface with sensors and actuators.
• Own integration of sensor SDKs and communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, serial).
• Build test harnesses and simulation tools for bench testing prior to vehicle integration.
