Job summary

Optical Zonu Corp. is seeking a Firmware / Embedded Software Engineer to join a small, capable engineering team. You will design, implement, test, and maintain embedded firmware in C, while supporting production and test platforms in a hands-on hardware environment.

The role combines new product development with continuation engineering, requiring problem solving across firmware, software, and hardware, and collaboration on architecture and design discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Strong proficiency in the C programming language.
• Experience with microcontrollers, embedded hardware, and PC applications.
• Understanding of software engineering principles and documentation.
• Experience debugging complex software/firmware.
• Ability to read electronic schematics and use lab instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain embedded firmware primarily in C.
• Continuation engineering on existing products; troubleshooting, feature enhancements, defect resolution, lifecycle support.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve firmware, software, and system-integration problems.
• Develop supporting tools, test applications, and manufacturing utilities in Python.
• Support manufacturing by developing test platforms and production software.
• Participate in architecture and software design discussions for maintainability and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering practices.
• Produce documentation and technical design information for firmware/software tools.
